Norgespris is something unique to Norway; it is not certain that everything mentioned in this article is relevant for other countries outside of Norway.
In this article, we explain how Futurehome supports both Spot Price and Norgespris (fixed price), what the system optimizes for in each contract type, and how to set up StrømKontroll step-by-step. We have also included useful links to Elhub for information and ordering Norgespris.
Short summary
What is Norgespris?
Norgespris is a government scheme that provides a fixed electricity price and can be ordered on Elhub My Page. The scheme is voluntary and managed via your grid provider. Read more and order at Elhub.
Regardless of the contract type, StrømKontroll works to reduce the bill for electricity and grid rent.
With spot price, we move consumption to cheap hours and avoid expensive hours automatically.
With fixed price/Norgespris, we continue to keep the daily peak (power element) down, and we move EV charging to more favorable times to reduce the energy element of the grid rent (day/evening/night/weekend at many grid providers).
You can add a markup from the electricity provider (can also be negative), and you can set a different fixed price than Norgespris if needed (relevant also outside Norway).
What does StrømKontroll optimize?
When you have spot price
- Price optimization: Moves consumption to the cheapest hours and avoids expensive hours automatically for the spot price and the price of the Energy element in the grid rent.
- Consumption limit: Reduces your daily peak to reduce costs related to the power element/capacity step in the grid rent.
When you have fixed price / Norgespris
- Energy element optimization: Instead of a spot price curve, the app shows a price graph for the energy element from your grid provider (day/evening/night/weekend/holiday where applicable). We move charging to more favorable hours for lower grid rent costs.
- Consumption limit (as above): We continue to limit the daily peak for lower grid rent.
Flexible fixed price: If you have a fixed price that is not Norgespris, you can enter your own price – the app will use it in the automation.
Before you start
- Update the app to the latest version (Norgespris support is available from launch October 1st 2025).
- Have the name of your grid provider and any markup from your electricity provider ready. This is often found on the invoice from your electricity provider if they support combined billing. If you do not have a combined invoice for both electricity and grid rent, you must find the latest invoice from both the electricity provider and the grid provider for your household. If you do not have an invoice available, you can also log in to Elhub.no to find your grid provider.
How to set up your contract type
- Go to Settings
- Go to StrømKontroll settings
- Go to Energy price settings

- Voila, you're done 👏
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to switch electricity providers to use Norgespris?
No. You keep your electricity provider. Norgespris is ordered via Elhub/grid provider, and applies as a fixed price scheme for the electricity itself.
Where do I order/cancel Norgespris?
On Elhub My Page (login via ID-porten). Elhub has a step-by-step guide for ordering and canceling.
What happens if the spot price is lower/higher than Norgespris?
At a lower spot price, you pay the difference yourself; at a higher spot price, the government covers the difference via the grid rent invoice. See Elhub's Q&A for details.
I live outside Norway / have another fixed price:
Select Fixed price in the app and enter your own fixed price; StrømKontroll will use it in the optimization (and the energy element is still fetched from the selected grid provider where data is available).
