Futurehome Charge - Provisioning (First setup)

After the physical installation of Charge, you will need to provision it and add it to a household in the app. Please note that only a qualified electrician can provision Charge.

Install the app

If you haven't used Futurehome before, you will need to download the app and create a user. If you're already a Futurehome user, proceed to the “Create a household” section.

  1. Go to the App Store or Google Play and download the Futurehome app.
  2. In the app, click “sign up” and enter your credentials.
  3. Open your email and activate your account.
  4. Return to the app and log in.

Create a household

If this is your first time using the app, click “create your household” on the dashboard. Otherwise, navigate to settings settings.svg → household → create new household.

  1. Select the type of household.
  2. Name the household. (Using the address is recommended)
  3. Enter the address, zip code, city, and select the country.
  4. Save.

Configure Charge

  1. On the dashboard, click “install EV charger.”
    1. If you have existing devices on your dashboard, navigate to settings → devices → install EV charger.
  2. Confirm your electrician status.
  3. Decide if you want to add a Smarthub.
    1. If adding a Smarthub, connect it to wired internet and power. Let it boot for 5 minutes.
    2. Scan the QR-code and allow the Smarthub to update.
  4. Grant permission for Bluetooth and location services.
  5. Search for nearby devices and select Futurehome Charge. If you don't find Charge, refer to article about bluetooth faultfinding.
  6. Input the passcode, found inside Charge and in the manual, then click Connect.

Circuit details

  1. Choose the grid type for the installation.
  2. Select the maximum charging current for Charge. More information about charging current here.

Network setup

The network options vary based on whether you have a Smarthub.

Without a Smarthub: Choose between a WiFi connection or a standalone setup. With a Smarthub: Connect directly via Zigbee or via WiFi (OCPP 1.6).

Choose your desired connection type. Charge will then search for available updates and initiate installation.

Connect Charge

If you selected “No connection,” skip to the “Handover” section.

Based on your connection choice, you'll either proceed with WiFi setup or Zigbee inclusion.

WiFi

  1. The network scan will begin automatically.
  2. Pick your preferred network.
  3. Key in the password.
  4. Connect.

Zigbee

Ensure your Smarthub has the latest Zigbee update. If an update is available, follow the prompt to install. Once updated, click continue.

  1. Access the Zigbee inclusion screen and click “start.”
  2. The Smarthub will search for Charge. When detected, click “OK, done!”

After connecting Charge, assign it to a specific room:

  1. Select Charge.
  2. Choose a location for it.
  3. Ensure the type and subtype are set to “chargepoint” and “car charger.”
  4. Save.

Handover

If you plan to add more devices to the Smarthub, select “Transfer ownership later.” Install remaining devices, then transfer ownership by navigating to settings settings.svg→ household → transfer ownership → input the new owner's email → send.

If your installation is complete, select “Transfer ownership now,” input the new owner's email, and send.
