  • Updated

A subscription gives you access to

  • Strømkontroll™ and smart charging – saving an average of 280–350 NOK per month*

  • An improved app experience with a new energy-usage dashboard

  • Integrated phone support and future premium features

  • Continued control and automation via the app

*Average savings when features are actively used.

When does the subscription take effect?

The subscription takes effect from 26 June 2025 (the 4-week trial starts from this date).

What happens if I don’t activate the subscription?

You receive a 4-week free trial, starting the moment you create or connect a new household. After the trial period:

  • The app is locked and most paid features become unavailable.

  • You lose access to controlling devices, configuring; automations, modes, shortcuts, and energy services.

  • Local devices still work manually, but without app control.

You can subscribe later at any time to restore full functionality.

How do I activate the subscription?

Follow these steps to purchase a subscription as a private customer:

(If you have Futurehome as a collective solution, use the steps further down in this article.)

Important: Make sure the Futurehome app is updated — always use the latest version.

  1. Open the Futurehome app
  2. Tap “Activate subscription” on the start screen or in Settings
  3. An activation link is sent by email to the owner of the site
  4. Open the email and click the button or link
  5. Enter billing information and confirm Done!
  6. The service is activated and you keep full access
  7. You will receive an invoice from our billing partner Riverty after activating.

Note: The link is valid for 24 hours. You can request a new link from the app.

How do I pay?

The subscription is billed annually:

  • Price: 115 NOK per month, totalling 1 380 NOK per year (VAT included).

  • You will receive an invoice from our billing partner Riverty a few days after activation.

  • Pay via online banking or your usual invoice app.

Important: If you activate the service but fail to pay the invoice, the service will be terminated without notice. Access is automatically re-enabled once payment is registered. You need to call us to cancel the subscription for us to stop the invoice.
An invoice will go to dept collection at a certain point if not paid.

You can always check whether your subscription is active – and the next renewal date – in the Futurehome app.

Can i have several sites on the same subscription?

Yes.

One user (owner) can have up to five sites linked to the same subscription. This applies if, for example, you have the system installed at home, at a cabin, a secondary residence, a rental unit, etc.

To add more households to the same subscription:

  1. Open the Futurehome app
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Tap Subscription
  4. Tap + Activate more households
  5. Choose the household you want to add Confirm the choice
  6. The household is now added to the same subscription

Important: To link multiple sites under a single subscription, the owner of each site must have the same email address registered.

How do I activate the subscription if I have a collective solution?

Important: Make sure the Futurehome app is updated — always use the latest version.

If you live in a housing cooperative or condominium that has Futurehome as a collective agreement, you can activate your household with an activation code. The activation code is sent to your board. Contact the board if you have not received a code. The code is unique to your condominium and must not be distributed or shared with anyone else.

  1. Open the Futurehome app
  2. Tap “Activate subscription” on the start screen or in Settings
  3. Tap “I have a code” Enter or paste the code you received
  4. Tap “Next” to activate
  5. The subscription is now activated

What still works without a subscription?

The following basic account and site functions are not part of the subscription and remain available without one:

  • Switch between households you have access to with your user
  • Create a new household
  • Delete a household
  • Edit My profile (user profile) Manage household users and owners
  • Household settings (update Smarthub, factory-reset the Smarthub, change address, etc.)
  • Local developer interface (Local API) access remains but there may be changes to this system in the future.

Recommended behaviour without a subscription

Product / service What should you do before the trial ends? How does it work after the trial ends?
Smarthub Disable Strømkontroll, fire alarm, modes, shortcuts and automations. Disconnect the hub from power/network if you want a completely local system. Cloud- or app-dependent functions are unavailable. Local devices can still be operated manually.
Thermostats, dimmers, relays No extra steps, but remove any schedules/automations. Operated manually on the wall; no app control.
EV-charger (Futurehome Charge / Smart Charging Kit) Turn off Smart Charging and dynamic control before lock. Charging starts as soon as the cable is plugged in. No price or power optimisation; limited only by the circuit’s max current.
Water-heater relay Set the relay permanently to On so the heater receives power continuously. Works like an ordinary, manual water-heater setup.
Smoke detectors (SDCO) Disable the fire-alarm service in the app. Ensure Z-Wave associations in group 2/3 are set. Interlinked alarm works as long as associations remain. Contact support if they are missing.
Lighting (wired & wireless switches) Remove automations that depend on the hub. Wired lights work from the wall switch. Wireless switches that are directly associated (Z-Wave/Zigbee) continue to work; those routed via the hub stop working.
Sensors & push notifications Sensors no longer send data to the app; push notifications stop.

You can activate the subscription at any time later to restore full functionality.

Note: Futurehome products use open standards such as EnOcean, Z-Wave, and Zigbee. Many of your devices may therefore work with other smart-home platforms. However, Futurehome cannot guarantee compatibility or provide support for third-party solutions.

Can I still get help if I don't subscribe?

You will still be able to find help in documentation and help articles, but direct support (chat and phone) will be reserved for subscribers.

Are there any changes in how the system manages charging and heating?

Yes, we are introducing, among other things:

  • Dynamic adjustment of charging speed to avoid interruptions
  • Option to disable pause and phase balancing for compatibility with certain cars
  • Better insight into spot prices and tariff structure in the new app
