Manual StrømKontroll package

This article covers everything you need to know to install the StrømKontroll package. We strongly recommend that you go through our course before starting the installation: https://futurehome.io/course. The course is free and gives you a simple introduction to the entire process.

• 1. The devices in the package with: Futurehome Smarthub (including network and power cables), thermostat, puck relay 16A and a HAN sensor.
  2. The AMS meter must be inside the house or in the immediate vicinity, due to wireless signals between the devices.
  3. The customer must have a HAN port opened. It is recommended to do this a few days in advance. Here, the customer must contact the grid company.
• 1. Open the Smarthub and check that everything is in place: Smarthub, power adapter and network cable.
     
  2. Find a suitable location for the Smarthub. It must be centrally located between the units that are going to be installed. This is to ensure the best possible signal. This means that IT cabinets, fuse boxes or similar are strongly discouraged.
     
  3. Connect the power cable and the network cable to the Smarthub. Check that it lights up both in the network port on the hub and in the logo on the top side. The network port should glow orange and flash green. The logo on the upper side starts with pink/purple and stabilises with white.
     
• 1. Go to the App Store or Google Play to download the app.
  2. Search for Futurehome and download the app.
     
      
     

  If you already have a user account, skip to step 4. If not, follow the instructions below.

  1. Open the app and tap "Sign up".
  2. Enter your e-mail and password, tap "Sign up".
  3. You will receive an email from Futurehome. Open it and click "Activate".
  4. Open the app again and log in.
• Creating a household

  1. Tap "Create new household" on the homepage of the app. 
  2. Select a building type and enter location information.
     TIP: Always use the address as the place name.

  Pair a Smarthub

  1. Once the location is created, connect the Smarthub to the location. Tap on "Add Smarthub".
  2. Scan the QR code or enter the hub ID manually. They are both on the underside of the hub. The hub ID is the series of numbers directly below the QR code.
     
  3. The app should now say that the Smarthub has been found. Press "Ok, got it!" and the Smarthub should now update automatically.
  4. You will get a notification on your phone when the Smarthub is updated. (Provided that you have notifications enabled on your phone).
  5. Now it's a good idea to create rooms in the app. To do this, tap the four squares on the tab bar. There are some standard rooms, but if you are going to use other ones, you have to create them yourself. Press "+ rooms", select the room category, name and save.
• Connect Thermostat

  The thermostat fits in all standard wall boxes in Norway and is easy to install. It is compatible with 10, 12, 15 and 47 kOhm sensors. The thermostat does not have power measurement built-in. You must therefore measure/calculate the consumption on the thermostat and write it down for later (consumption in watts). For the most accurate measurement, a clamp ammeter is recommended. You have to enter the value in the "Assigned power value" field. This feature will be ready in late September. Therefore, write it down somewhere you won't lose it. You will find assigned power in the app, in the thermostat and "additional functions".
  

  Connect 16A Relay

  The relay has a compact design and fits nicely into a simple wall box. Use Wago or similar for connection.
  

  Futurehome HAN sensor

  The HAN sensor is connected to the AMS meter to send current data to the Smarthub. This is easily plugged into the RJ-45 port on the energy meter. Check that the HAN sensor is blinking on the indicator on the inside of the cover.
  Note: It is important that the customer has the HAN port opened. This is done with the grid company.

• 1. Press "Add device" on the homepage of the app.
  2. Select Zigbee and “start”. Now the Smarthub is looking for devices.
  3. Put the device in inclusion mode.
     Thermostat: Hold down the minus button for 8 seconds.
     The relay: Hold down the pairing button for 5 sec.
     HAN sensor: Hold the button for 15 sec.
  4. Let the Smarthub and the devices find each other and then press “Ok, done!”
  5. Go to the device list (settings -> devices), press the device and select "Settings". There you choose the name of the device, which room it should be used in and which function it should have.
     The thermostat should be called: Thermostat "room". Eg: Thermostat Hall.
     The relay should be called: Water boiler.
     The HAN sensor should be called: Main power meter.
• In order for the devices to be controlled automatically in a smart way, we need to activate the Power Manager. This means that the devices turn on and off based on the electricity price and the grid tariffs.

  1. Power control can be found under Energy on the front page → Lightning at the top right.
  2. Set the desired maximum limit on simultaneous power consumption. It is important to set a realistic limit for the function to have a good effect. If you are unsure of the customer's starting point, the customer can log in to www.elhub.no to see historical consumption.
  3. Then choose which units are to be managed in the optimisation. The more devices, the better effect the optimisation has, so the recommendation is to activate all the devices on the list.
  4. The next step is the price area you are in. If you are unsure, you can enter the zip code.

• Once everything is set up there are a few things you need to do to complete the project.

  Event Collector

  Event Collector is the software that stores the power reports from the devices on the Smarthub. This means that you get historical data about consumption in the app.

  1. Go to settings → playground.
  2. Scroll down until you find "Event Collector" and download it.

  Backup

  It is also important to make a backup copy of the household.

  1. Go to settings → household.
  2. Tap “hub settings”.
  3. Tap “create backup” and then “back up”.

  When it has been loaded, you must double check that it is inside.

  1. Tap “restore backup”.
  2. The backup copy must be there with the date and time.

  Transfer ownership

  Now it's time to hand over ownership to the customer.

  1. Go to settings → household.
  2. Tap "transfer ownership" and enter the customer's email address.
  3. The customer will now receive an email with instructions on creating a user. The invitation to take over the household must be accepted within 24 hours.

  The last step is to review the most important things with the customer and ensure they have a basic understanding of how the system works. It is also important to explain the automations that have been created, so that the customer understands why things happen automatically.
